Science Olympiad is a STEM competition club composed of one Varsity and two JV Teams.
Each team consists of 15 members.
Teams compete in 23 events covering topics in chemistry, biology, engineering, physics , and more!
Some events are test based, some require students to build a device, and some are a blend of the two.
Each competitor selects three events at the beginning of the school year and works with a partner to prepare to compete in those events through research, study, practice, and construction.
The first competition is the regional tournament at Seaforth High School January 31st, 2026.
If the Varsity team places top three in the region, the Varsity team will compete in the state tournament in April.
The top two varsity teams in North Carolina go to the national tournament.
Practice and team meetings usually take place during our 45 minute SMART Lunch.
Our first meeting will be after school because SMART Lunch does not start until the third week of school.
Experiments and practices that require more time may need to take place after school . Mr Roberts is often available after school if members .
We also have a Science Olympiad Class!
Every fall we have a class dedicated to Science Olympiad. Students get 80 minutes a day to study and prepare, giving us a huge advantage at competition.
