Hello, Geese!
Ms. Redding
Hello, Geese!
Welcome to the new school year! My name is Hayley Redding, and I am your 7th grade English Language Arts teacher. I am excited to get to know each of you this year as we work together to accomplish our goals of becoming more confident and successful readers. 🤓
This is my 11th year teaching, and I am truly living the dream. I graduated from Campbell University with a degree in Middle Grades Education. My concentration areas are Language Arts and Social Studies. I have taught both contents over the course of my career, and I love helping students make cross-curricular connections as much as possible.
My goal this year is to help everyone to develop a deeper love of learning. Our classroom will be a space for students to grow as students, leaders, and global citizens. I hope to create an environment in which every student feels comfortable participating and sharing their thoughts and opinions with everyone. I learn just as much from students as they learn from me, so I encourage everyone to share out the cool things that interest them whenever possible!
Over the course of the year, we will be reading a variety of texts in several formats including traditional novels, digital articles, poetry, and more. Although we have some anchor texts that are used across the grade level, I always love to incorporate pieces that I feel will appeal to our students. So, if you have any suggestions throughout the year, please let me know!
If you have any questions or suggestions throughout the year, please don't hesitate to reach out. 7th grade is such a FUN and exciting time for students, and I am so happy that I am able to be a part of this adventure!
Lots of love,
Hayley Redding

How can I be successful this year?
Review the syllabus!
You will see a linked version of the course syllabus to the left, and students will receive a paper copy on the first day of school.
This gives you a general overview of the course, including grading and late work policies.
Check Infinite Campus!
My goal is to update grades weekly.
Please make sure work is completed on time so that you don't have zeros in the gradebook!
Participate!
It's ok if you don't know the answer or if you're not sure if you're completely right... I don't know all the answers, either! But the more you participate, the more confident you will be.
