My name is Mrs. Sarah Hampton. I was born and raised in Raleigh and grew up attending Wake County Public Schools. I graduated from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in psychology. This is my eleventh year teaching in Wake County. I have previously taught third, fourth, and fifth grades.
I thoroughly enjoy living in Raleigh. Our state has so much to offer from the coastal plains to the mountain region. I spend my time running, playing with my two dogs (Tonka and Mack), eating at new restaurants downtown, and traveling to new and exciting places with my husband, Mike. This year we welcomed our first child, Reece.
This will be my 10th year of teaching Elementary School. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked as a research scientist. I find working with children very fulfilling, and enjoy the problem-solving and creativity that each day of teaching and learning require. I had the opportunity to spend a month in India in 2013 learning about education through a Fulbright-Hayes scholarship awarded by Duke University.
When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time outside: beekeeping, gardening or walking my dogs.
