Dear Lake Myra families,
We want to take a moment to share an important update and provide clarity around our remote learning plans. On days when in-person instruction is not possible due to weather or other emergencies, students will engage in learning from home using activities and materials provided by their teachers. These days are designed to keep children connected to learning in a way that is supportive, flexible, and family-friendly.
Remote learning days are designed with student well-being and family needs in mind. We recognize that learning at home looks different for every family, and our goal is to provide meaningful learning experiences without trying to recreate a full school day at home.
No new instructional content will be taught. Live instruction will not be offered, as Remote Learning Days are asynchronous (not live and not together). Activities will focus on reinforcing skills and concepts students have already learned and will emphasize practice, creativity, and connection rather than new instruction.
Remote learning activities are designed to be completed within a reasonable amount of time. We do not expect children to work for hours at a time or to follow a traditional school-day schedule at home. Instead, families are encouraged to allow children to work in short, manageable chunks, take breaks as needed, and balance learning with rest and family routines.
Grade level choice boards with learning activities are posted on our school website and below for your reference. Choice boards were developed for all students; however, accommodations and modifications of assignments do still occur for students with IEPs and 504 plans. When working on remote work, please reach out to your student’s Special Education teacher and/or homeroom teacher for any changes or adjustments needed to support your child.
Our Commitment
Our commitment is to ensure that remote learning days are developmentally appropriate, flexible and family friendly, and focused on reinforcing learning without adding stress.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We appreciate the care you provide in supporting your child’s learning, especially when school looks a little different.
Remote Learning Activities
Second grade has prepared remote-learning activities for the event of inclement weather. Please DO NOT send any requests to edit the documents. You can make a copy of the slides and edit your own copy if needed. Students can complete the assignments on paper/pencil.
Students are to complete the Day 1 reading and math activities for Monday, January 26. Please only complete DAY 1.
Students are to complete the Day 2 reading and math activities for Tuesday, January 27. Please only complete DAY 2.
Students are to complete the Day 3 reading and math activities for Wednesday, January 28. Please only complete DAY 3.
Students may use any sheet of paper to complete the work. If you prefer and are able to print the materials, that is also fine. All assignments should be turned in within five days of being assigned. You can message or email a picture of the completed activities to your child's teacher or send a simple message saying, "Student has completed today's assignment".
If you have any questions. Please reach out to your child's teacher. Thank you for your continued support!
