College and Career Resources

Naviance

-All WCPS students have access to Naviance.  This program is used with students to explore college and career interests, to identify areas of strength related to jobs and majors, help students identify potential college and career programs and for students to request transcripts, search for scholarships and letters of recommendations from teachers.  For simple directions on navigating through Naviance students may use this Naviance Cheat Sheet Link.  The Naviance link can also be used to sign up for visits with college and career representative that are coming to BHS for information sessions.  Please see Mrs. Taylor (College and Career Counselor) for any assistance you may need with Naviance.  Parents may also request a Naviance log in from Mrs. Taylor.

Scholarships

Students interested in exploring both National and Local Scholarships can find scholarship listings on Naviance.  Links will also be made available on the Class of 2024 Google classroom for students once local scholarship information is received.  Information will also be shared on the Boonsboro High School Counseling Center Facebook page.  Please follow our Facebook page for ongoing information and announcements.  Please also look for a monthly newsletter that will be distributed with this information. 

FAFSA

The Federal Student Aid Application is available beginning October 1st 2023 and must be completed by March 1st 2024 for the upcoming school year.  Students must complete the FAFSA by March 1st for be eligible for Maryland funding.  Both the student and the parent must request a pin via the FAFSA website to begin the FAFSA.  The FAFSA can be completed at fafsa.gov.  Please do not complete the FAFSA on any other link.  The application is free and if you are asked to pay you are not on the correct link.  We will offer Financial Aid information nights in the early fall and a FAFSA completion night.  Please stay tuned for more information. 

Important Links

NCAA-Any student interested in playing collegiate sports needs to register with the NCAA and make sure they meet eligibility requirements.  Please go to the NCAA eligibility website for more information.

College Board-Any student wishing to register for the SAT, send SAT or AP scores or to obtain SAT tips/practice for the SAT should go to the College Board website at collegeboard.org. Any student in need of a fee waiver the SAT or ACT should see Mrs. Taylor in the College and Career Center.

ACT-Student wishing to register for the ACT should register at the ACT website. Any student in need of a fee waiver should see Mrs. Taylor in the Counseling Center.

Naviance-Students wishing to log on to Naviance can do so at www.naviance.com. Open your web browser to naviance.com.

• On the right side of the screen, under the Account Log-in click “For students and Parents.”

• Enter Your School Zip Code, select Your School.

• Elect “Continue with Clever.”

• Type in Your School Name.

• Log in with Google.

Common Application-The is one application students can use electronically to apply to multiple participating colleges.  The Common Application can be found at https://www.commonapp.org/.  The Common Application can be connected to Naviance to allow students to easily request transcript and letters of recommendations. 

BigFuture-https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/-this is a helpful website run through the CollegeBoard.  Take advantage of the college search options and scholarship opportunities on this site.
