High School Programs
Advanced Placement / College Credit
Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer highly motivated students the opportunity to take college-level classes in high school. AP programs are available at every high school and are designed to challenge students in various content areas and prepare them to take the Advanced Placement (AP) Exam. AP courses on a student’s transcript enhance college applications, and a qualifying score on an AP exam can mean that a student is eligible to receive college credit at a college/university. AP offerings vary by school and are dependent upon course enrollment.
Honors Courses
Honors courses are available at every high school and are designed to challenge students in several content areas and prepare them for enrollment in Advanced Placement (AP) coursework. Placement is determined by ability, performance, and prior coursework.
Early College Access
Through the Early College Access Program, students earn college credit while still at their home high school or home school. Early College Access Program students take classes in a dual-credit class at their high school, on HCC's campus, or online. The dual-credit classes are those that award both high school credit and college credit. Dual credit courses follow the HCC curriculum and are taught by college-approved instructors either at the student's home high school or the HCC campus.
