Speech-to-Text (STT)

Voice typing in Google Docs. In the past there were some Chrome extensions that could enable you to do that, but now voice typing is a native feature of Google Docs. To use voice typing in Google Docs simply open the "tools" drop-down menu and select "voice typing." When you make that selection a microphone icon will appear in the margin of your document. Once the icon appears, click it, allow Google to access your microphone, and start talking. Your spoken words will almost instantly appear on in the document.

Read & Write for Google

Turn words into text as you speak! All teacher can have free access to this Google Extension. Once you have installed Read&Write for Google Chrome™, you will always have access to the text-to-speech tools and translator that allow you to read Google documents and the Web aloud with dual-color highlighting. Steps to add this extention:

• Log into your WCCUSD Google Account
• Add the Read&Write for Google extension through the Chrome Web Store
• Allow and verify permission by opening a new google doc and then access the purple puzzle piece in the URL/address bar

• Teachers then go to go to the site and complete the information to verify that you are an educator for your free premium subscription.
