Da Vinci Decathlon

The Da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition designed to challenge and enrich high achieving students. Students from Years 7-10  compete in teams of eight across 10 disciplines: engineering, mathematics and chess, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography and general knowledge.

The Decathlon is an initiative of Knox Grammar School and is now held around several locations in Australia. William Carey sent a team to The Illawarra Grammar School in Term 2  for the first time. Our excellent results are below

2022 Results

William Carey participated in the Illawarra da Vinci Decathlon for a second year and both the Year 7/8 and 9/10 teams had a great time participating in a number of interdisciplinary challenges.

Our outstanding Year 9/10 team came 2nd overall, beating over 20 schools from the Sydney/Illawarra region!

They placed 1st in creative producers, 3rd in cartography and 3rd in ideation. They are proudly wearing their medals in the below.

These results are particularly impressive as we had four Year 7’s and three Year 9’s competing against students from higher grades. Well done to our talented students!
