Mission to Mars 2022

The Challenge

In Term One, students in the CS Lewis Program completed a Mission to Mars challenge, where they could choose to work individually, in pairs or in groups on a variety of interdisciplinary tasks to successfully colonise the Red Planet.

The students were presented with a variety of challenges to complete and were given the freedom to choose based on their strengths and interests as learners. The students worked on one or more of the following challenges

·   Design funding pitches to acquire funding for the mission

·   Create a new space governance framework for your new colony

·   Develop a mindfulness app that can be used by the members of the team on Mars

·   Calculate how to launch and land a ship on Mars

·   Design a space habitat for surviving on Mars

·   Investigate and propose ways to develop a self-sustaining habitat

·   Design and code a robot to explore Mars.

All students in the program thoroughly enjoyed stretching their brains, problem solving as a team and developing their creative skills. In Term 2, they will be investigating the future of food!
