I always knew that humans played a significant role in the natural world, but to what extent, I didn't know. I fully comprehended my role in the natural world after completing part 5. I believe that when it comes to changes happening in the natural world, people tend to blame humanity for the disasters or negative changes. Not enough people think about how all humans have the ability to reverse those changes. I understood that although we are students, and people might not come to us when it comes to solving global issues, we can still make a difference. I now know that what we do leaves a trace on our planet, and it's up to us to make sure that it's a positive one.
Furthermore, I believe that Earth's condition now results from poor choices currently being made. Some people have the power to reverse our negative changes, but they are not utilizing that power. Earth's global temperature is what it is because the decisions and choices previously taken and currently being taken by humanity. And I strongly believe that we have an obligation to reverse the effects inflicted by our choices, and to make our home a safe and secure place for the future generations to inhabit.
My favorite part of the project was the "Climate Change" portion of it. I applied what I learned about climate change and all things related from class and what I heard from Mr. Dobkowski. I liked applying what I know about it to my future version of my field site, and how it would affect other organisms. I also found it interesting when choosing a tone for "The Actions We Can Take Towards the Efforts of Reducing Climate Change" part. I thought about how young adults and students could make a difference, when most people choose to not value their opinions and thoughts. I then remembered how young people did make a difference this past summer, with the Black Lives Matter movement. That helped me set the tone with choosing an efficient solution to reversing climate change.
Personally, my thought process was the most challenging portion of the project. When it was first introduced, I thought it would be stressful and overwhelming. Looking at other examples made me think that my presentation had to be very neat and organized, which would take a lot of consideration and time. However, setting goals to accomplish each day (Ms. TR's agenda) made it easier for me to complete it. I also found that using resources of previous assignments and assessments was more efficient than trying to recount everything. I must admit, I did procrastinate a lot, but having the time to work on it everyday helped me catch up and stay on track.
