Artifical Intelligence in the WBSD
Last year, a team of teachers and administrators developed the WBSD Guide to Artificial Intelligence to help bring clarity and support regarding the use of AI.
Our vision for AI is to Engage, Enlighten, and Empower. We strive to engage staff and students in opportunities to use AI as a tool, enlighten our community on ethical use and best practices, and empower learners to use AI responsibly.
Our AI framework includes clear rights for both students and teachers, district-approved tools that prioritize privacy and security, and classroom guidelines that help ensure AI enhances learning without replacing essential skills like writing and critical thinking. Above all, we view AI as a support for teaching and learning—not a replacement for creativity, communication, or professional judgment.

Curriculum Study Council FAQ
1) What is the main function of the Curriculum Study Council?
A: The Curriculum Study Council, functioning as an advisory and consultative body, shall review, study, research programs, and make recommendations in writing to the superintendent in curriculum areas that are beneficial to the district.
2) I would like to purchase a new textbook, what's the process?
A: In order for the district to adopt a new textbook, you must follow the process outlined here for a new program or course. The recommendation would then be approved first by your building administrator prior to being reviewed by the CSC.
3) I found a wonderful online article/podcast that is compatible with my already approved curricula standards/course syllabus, does it need to be approved?
A: We ask that you use your professional judgment in this situation. If you are in a situation where you are not sure if the resource is compatible with your already approved curricula, then please contact your building administrator to determine its compatibility.
