Your High School Years

It is important to challenge yourself academically and to become an active member of the school community. There are many different pathways you can purse at West Bridgewater Middle Senior High School. Whether your goal is higher education, military service or entering the work force, your high school transcript and experiences will play a key role shaping your future. Therefore, it is important that you do your very best academically and to be as engaged in our school community as possible, giving you a well rounded experience.

Graduation Requirements and Course Selection

Below are West Bridgewater's graduation requirements for high school. Each year you will work with your guidance counselor in selecting which courses are the most appropriate for you. Course selection is a thoughtful process and should be discussed with your guidance counselors, parents and teachers. In selecting your courses, keep in mind that one of the most important things that colleges are looking for is for students to earn good grades and who elect to take challenging coursework. It is important to note that your Grade Point Average (GPA), is built over time and is one of the most important factors in the college selection process.

In selecting your courses, there are three levels available to take in high school.

  1. College Prep (CP)
  2. Honors
  3. Advanced Placement (AP)

Prior to selecting your courses for the upcoming year, your teachers will recommend the most appropriate level in each subject area. Their recommendations will be based on your current performance. You should take the teachers recommendation seriously, however, if you feel, a different level course is more appropriate for you, then you should have a discussion with your parents and guidance counselor before making your final decision.
