In addition to having self awareness and the ability to be self-reflective, the capacity to have meaningful conversations with people who have different ideas depends on participants having the ability to empathize with others. The assignments in this section focus on empathy, both so that participants continue to develop a sense of empathy, and so they can understand the conceptual elements of empathy in a way that will help them engage in and perhaps even facilitate difficult conversations.
