How and when will the devices be distributed?

Distribution of devices for students will be done by each individual school building on their own schedule.

For students who can not make the assigned days, there will be additional Chromebook distribution days an email will be forthcoming with dates and times.

Parents must sign the Chromebook Agreement form in the OnCourse new student registration or the annual registration process before a device will be distributed.

Optional insurance can be purchased through Community Pass.

What will be issued to the students?

Each student will be issued a charger and a Chromebook.

Is there an acceptable use policy (AUP)? Where can I find it?

What are the school’s disciplinary consequences for inappropriate use?

Will students have email or other accounts?

Yes, students in grades 3 - 12 will receive an @wayneschools.com email account. The use of email is for educational purposes and is limited to sending and receiving email from only staff and other students in Wayne Township Public Schools.

Is the school using a content filter for Internet browsing?

The district uses a content filtering solution that is CIPA (Children's Internet Protection Act) compliant. The district may monitor G-Suite and device usage when a student is logged on at home or anytime the device is connected to an internet connection.

What are the expectations around using the Chromebook at home? Is it just for schoolwork or can I use it for personal or entertainment reasons?

Can I configure or personalize the device in any way?

The device is considered school property and should be treated as such.

Will I be allowed to load applications on their Chromebooks?

Yes, students will be able to add extensions or programs that they see fit to be educational in nature.

Who else can use my device?

The device is issued to each student. Only a student with a @wayneschools.com account can log into the machine.

What kind of tech support will I have outside of school hours?

Students who experience a technical issue are encouraged to report them using the Chromebook kiosk in each media center. For students whose Chromebook’s are being repaired, a loaner one will be provided to them until the repair is complete.

What happens if I forget my Chromebook? Will loaners be available to those students?

Students who forget their Chromebook will be provided a loaner Chromebook on a period class basis. The Chromebook is considered a tool necessary for learning. If a student comes to class without the proper tools, they will be treated as coming to class unprepared

What happens if I forget to charge their Chromebook?

Students are encouraged to come to class prepared with their Chromebook fully charged. In the event a Chromebook needs to be charged, there will be central charging stations available in the school

What happens if the Chromebook is stolen?

Student / parent must report the incident immediately to the Principal or Assistant Principal of your student's building within 24 hours so that the District may initiate the recovery process.

How should I take care of my device?
