By: Abibe Aliu, Mia Zambrano, & Audrey Gia Lee

And the crowd goes WILD!!!

Yo, yo, yo! Basketball player Mr. Khan in the hizzouse! Thank you Genie Now go find Aladdin to set you free (From 2019 Live Action Aladdin). Anyways he is on the court, or in the classroom. Well you know what I mean! Today we are talking about Mr. Khan. He is an awesome teacher and he is hilarious. Mr. Khan is also amazingly kind. This amazing teacher has a b-day like everyone else (if you didn’t know that, then you have been living under a rock). His b-day is on July 6th. Therefore, he is a Cancer (the zodiac sign NOT the illness). As I said Mr. Khan is an awesome teacher and will always be one. Alright folks! It’s time to get on with the basketball game! Mr. Khan! (people clapping) Mr. Khan! (people clapping) Mr. Khan! (people clapping)

Students: 30, Teacher: 1

Students: 30, Teacher: 1. Now you might be wondering what this means, and I will soon explain right after I tell you some things about him. Before he worked at AW, he taught at LakeSide Middle School for 1 year and at AW for about 7 months. He teaches 6th grade Social Studies. If any of you wonder why he became a teacher, he was inspired by his 10th grade teacher. Mr. Khan loves teaching kids. Even though they can be a bit difficult speaking as a student of his. He wants to make kids enjoy school more and he definitely does not disappoint! Now, looking back from the second sentence, I will explain what it means. Well, I'm sure everyone knows how some kids may misbehave, all those students against one teacher. That's all for this paragraph, scroll down to read more about your teacher!

He Dribbles, He Shoots, And…

SWISH! Wooh! That took a lot of energy out of all of us! Anyways since it's half time let me share some interesting facts about this NBA player. He only works at AW on business days. His hobbies are sleeping, watching tv, hanging out with friends, and playing basketball, oh did I mention sleeping? When he is not working he just plays basketball and sleeps. He eventually wants to become a basketball coach (look students you may have more points than him but just remember Mr. Khan is the one who can give you detention!). This NBA player was born in New York and moved to New Jersey and went to Schuyler Colfax and Wayne Hills High School. (He probably is working at AW to have a second chance to come here because when he was supposed to go to Middle School AW was shut down.) Our NBA player has an older sister who is 10 years older than him and a nephew who is 7 years old along with a niece who is 9 years old (SO cute!). (You guys be like) FAVORITES! FAVORITES! FAVORITES! (Me be like) Okay now it’s time for everybody's favorite… the favorites! So Mr. Khan’s favorite movie is Abronx Tale! His favorite show is Stranger Things (big fan) we should make the Stranger Things theme song his walk out song! His favorite color is blue and green so he should be on a team with either blue or green on their jerseys. His favorite instrument is the saxophone. His favorite season is spring (hopefully it will be spring soon I am so sick of winter), and his favorite food is bougers! (burgers) Mr. Khan celebrates Eid, Thanksgiving, Earth Day, New Years, Last day of school, Teachers Appreciation Week (get him something nice or else?!?), Memorial Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, and finally National Geographic Kids Day! He loves celebrating holidays he made up some (we helped during the process) so if he celebrates it you should too! BUZZZZZZZZZZZ! Oop that’s the buzzer now let’s get back to the show!

             Chef Cerullo

By - Abibe Aliu, Mia Zambrano, & Audrey Gia Lee

What Is Mrs. Cerullo Cooking Today??

Welcome everyone to the Cooking Channel. We have a lot of guests today. However our star of today's show is drum roll please… (drums playing in the background)... MRS, CERULLO!!! Now Mrs. Cerullo is one of the many amazing teachers at AW. Her birthday is on June 24th. Now you probably don’t want me to say this but I’ll do it anyway! Keep on reading! Enjoy!

In The Kitchen Or In The Classroom??

Now you might think this is a strange subtitle, but trust me you won’t be disappointed. If you are, then too bad… Anyway, some of you may have Mrs. Cerullo and some may not, so I am here to tell you about her. She has worked at this school for 10 years and mostly teaches 6th grade math. Though she teached 8th and 7th grade math for a short time, she loves teaching 6th grade because she can see them grow and mature throughout middle school. Another thing she loves about teaching is seeing students solve problems in creative ways and try to answer them instead of getting answers. You might be surprised that Mrs. Cerullo never wanted to be a teacher in the first place. She wanted to be a chemist! When she was in college, she was already studying chemistry, but she took one class and hated it. At the time, she was also working part time at a daycare, and one day a counselor came and had Mrs. Cerullo took a test to see what she was mostly suited for. Her results said she would be good at teaching and started doing teaching courses. This is how Mrs. Cerullo became a teacher! Now back to the present, currently her only job is teaching at AW but used to do a summer camp and pushed her masters degree. This is all for this paragraph, scroll down to read more about this amazing teacher.

Ding! The Cake Is Done Baking!

Yup the timer is done! Now it’s time for the fun facts!!! All right I think everyone is ready for the timer of the school year to go off so it’s time for everybody’s favorite… the favorites!!! So Chef’s Cerullo’s favorite color is green so make sure to expect some green frosting on any of her cakes. She loves listening to the piano and her favorite season in fall so when she has a bakery of her own you should be seeing halloween decorations with some piano music in the background. Maybe in the background you might hear an episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S And her favorite food is any breakfast foods so come to the bakery in the morning for some delicious food. She celebrates St. Patrick’s day so come then for some more amazing food! Mrs. Cerullo has an older sister who is 2 years older and a half brother who is 9 years younger. Mrs. Cerullo grew up in a big town located in Central, New Jersey. Our special chef isn’t too much into sports so she wouldn’t watch any football games. However, she did cheerleading when she was younger. Her favorite hobbies are exercising, baking (obviously), and listening to music. So in her future bakery you should hear some workout music. Lastly, Mrs. Cerullo likes to create cute and yummy deserts and spends quality time with her family! So in the future come on down and have a taste of some delicious and decorative deserts!

Uncovering The Mystery Of Explorer Rush

By - Abibe Aliu, Mia Zambrano, & Audrey Gia Lee

There’s a new Explorer in town!

Hello everybody! Before I start I just want to say… DO NOT SKIP TO THE NEXT ARTICLE!! YOU NEED TO KNOW WHO THIS AMAZING TEACHER IS!! Ok now let's start. So who are we talking about today? Oh yeah! This person needs no intro but since we have to do it! Ladies and gentlemen clear the way for… (guitars playing rock music in the background) Mrs. Rush!!! Mrs. Rush was born on July 31st, 1981. It’s so sad because we will be on summer break and we can't come to her birthday party 🙁. Now that's all for this paragraph! Keep on reading! Enjoy!

What Has She Explored?

Teaching! She has explored teaching! Most of Mrs. Rush’s time teaching was at a school called Holy Spirit which was for 10 years. She worked at AW for 2 years. She teaches sixth grade ELA and seminar. The reason she loves being a teacher is because Mrs. Rush loves a challenge. Well, teaching kids is definitely a challenge. She likes being in control and becoming a role model to kids. Some things about her is that before she started teaching, she did group therapy and then got a masters in teaching. She loves to see how differently people express themselves in writing and how people relate to literature. That's all for this paragraph, scroll down to read more about this amazing teacher!

All  About: Explorer Rush!

As you know Mrs. Rush likes to be a leader. And she also likes exploring! For example when she isn’t working she tutors kids and explores her  house as she’s cleaning. When she is not working she likes to explore a book, the water (swim) , hang out with family, explore recipes, and explore the world (in other words analyze it)! Her favorite hobby is hiking, which makes sense. I don't think you want to hear me explain it anymore. Mrs. Rush is currently not interested in sports, but she is interested in exploring houses by cleaning them and is a counselor. Mrs. Rush isn’t the only Rush in her family, she has an older brother! And not only is there an older brother Rush but she has a husband and two other mini explorers named Lucy and Ruby! Now where is this special explorer from, you ask? Well, she was born and is currently living in New Jersey, but her heritage is Sicilian, she is also from Romania, and from Greece. Now it’s time to see Mrs. Rush’s favorite things! Her favorite movie is Nightmare before Christmas, her favorite color is purple (very exotic), her favorite instrument is guitar (see guitar fans I knew someone liked it!) and bass. Her favorite show is Cobra Kai (like George Washington, to explore you have to learn how to fight in case you run into an enemy). Her favorite season is summer and her favorite foods are pasta and pizza. She celebrates Christmas, Easter, and Halloween. Now we got to go but don’t worry as said in Hamilton the Musical “We’ll be back” said King George lll!

                                                       BESTIESSSSSSSS OUT!

The Kreepy Mrs. Kane

By - Abibe Aliu, Mia Zambrano, & Audrey Gia Lee

Whoooo Is Sheeeeee????

Sorry about that! My ghost friend Casper wrote that. Anyhow! Let's see what teacher we are going to talk about today hmmm… oh yeah Mrs. Kane! So you guys know what day Halloween is on right (for those of you who don’t it’s October 31st)? And you guys are always excited about Halloween right? Halloween shouldn’t be the only thing you’re excited about on that day. You don’t know what it is, do you? Ugh well, I guess I need to tell you since nobody ever checks the calendar these days… IT’S MRS. KANE’S BIRTHDAY!!!! Now let's see… Oh, wait never mind, that's all for this paragraph. BYEEEEEEEE!!!

A Kreepy Kareer

Now let me tell you all about the Kreepy Kanes Kreepy Kareer! Mrs. Kane came straight to AW after college. Now, this is her 11th year teaching! She teaches track 1A and 8th grade ELA. The reason for her desire to teach is because her mother was a teacher and knew the value of educating and also loved shakespeare. Also, to those who do not know what that means, too bad. Anyway, She always has a good time telling stories and getting to know students better. Everyday and period is different and Mrs. Kane loves the excitement and always has something to look forward to. Well it's true class is always interesting with children… That's all for this paragraph! Scroll down to read more.

Let’s Scare You With Some Facts!

Alright folks! Welcome back to the show! Let’s start off with… ok this is getting too confusing you won’t understand let’s just get started! Mrs. Kane likes singing, art and traveling. I wonder if she has ever stayed in any haunted mansions??? Oh well I guess her students could ask her. Singing and painting are one of her hobbies along with a creepy past with acting. She used to play volleyball, soccer, and she wants to own a farm. Now I know everyone might think she was born on Halloween in a spooky mansion but she was really just from Ringwood New Jersey like most of the other teachers we interviewed. Mrs. Kane isn’t the only spooky kane in her family, she has an older sister and younger brother. And the spook Mrs. Kane has created a new generation of Kanes! (meaning she has her own family if you didn’t get that) Now it’s time for everybody's favorite part of this! It’s the……………………………………………………………………………………… The Favorite’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So her favorite show is Pan Labyrinth, favorite movie is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and color red for blood. Her favorite instrument is violin and bass (guess you could hear those in a creepy mansion) she likes autumn for halloween/her birthday and her favorite food isn’t brains but it is Indian food. Besides celebrating Halloween (which is also her birthday) she celebrates both Christmas and Hanukkah. Now Mrs. Kane used to work at City Green and does a band as a side hustle (don’t know what that means? LOOK IT UP). Alright well look at the time fright fest is over for now! (maniacal laugh)

By - Mia Zambrano, Audrey Gia Lee, & Abibe Aliu

Who Is This Sports Guy??

Here he, Here he, there's someone we need to introduce you to, someone very special. Now we may have spoiled it in our last article but who cares right? You probably don’t even remember it, right? Anyhow, here comes the funny King of P.E. (trumpets playing in the background) Mr. Peterson!! He’s a P.E. teacher if you have no clue who his (and if you haven’t read the sentence before this). He’s 41 years old, his B-day is June 17th, and born in 1981. Now let us tell you more about this amazing King of P.E.! Now before we move on we want to say sorry to someone. Sorry, Mr. Lucsio! You’re an amazing P.E. teacher as well!! Ok now let's move on.

With The Teachers Or With The Bleachers??

So let's see, is Mr. Peterson with the teachers or with the bleachers?  Well some people might be thinking how long has he been working at AW. If you're not then too bad. Anyway, Mr. Peterson has been working at AW ever since it opened. Which is exactly 18 years. He teaches health and P.E. He loves sports and being active and he also loves working with kids because they are unique and fun. Well, they are definitely “unique”. Moving on, ever since high school, he loved doing sports so why not be a P.E teacher? Now that he is a teacher he likes working with kids. Before working at AW, he used to coach at Wayne Valley. This is all for this section, go down and READ MORE, byeeeee.

Something he likes to do is run in fact he is training to run for a marathon. If he wins this marathon then you got to get his autograph and if you don’t then you don’t know what you missed out on. I GOT SPIES KEEPING THEIR EYES ON YOU!  Okay, sorry about that (just watch your backs) anyways back on dropping the ball about Mr. Peterson, which as any other teacher has hobbies! His hobbies are fishing, building, and spending time with family and friends! Honestly, if spending time with family and friends not a good hobby for you, then I have no idea what world you are living in. Anyways it’s time for the holidays! He celebrates Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, and 4th of July! Now it’s time for the favorites!  His favorite movie is Jaws, very scary just like him!  Just kidding, he is very nice! He likes to watch crminal minds as his go to TV show!  His favorite color is orange, very exotic! His favorite instrument to listen to is drums (are you sure there isn’t any guitar fans out there?)!! His favorite season is winter so I hope he is going to enjoy this upcoming break! His favorite food is sushi as many other people. Mr. Peterson is married to Mrs. Peterson and has two little Petersons!  Mr. Peterson has 2 siblings an older sister and an older brother. Alright we just dropped the ball on Mr. Peterson. A Book About Mrs. Dudek

By - Abibe Aliu, Mia Zambrano, & Audrey Gia Lee

Who Is This Amazing Author??

Hello ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages I present to you the amazing Mrs. Dudek! Who is this Mrs. Dudek you ask? Well, I bet you didn’t ask but I’m still going to tell you (whether you like it or not). Well, a lot of you may know her but just in case if didn’t, she’s an ELA and Seminar teacher at AW. Her Birthday is June 29th. Luckily, she doesn’t have school on her birthday! She is 51 years old but she looks much younger. For those who have or had her you should know she tells you riddles. They are so complicated. Well, now that I told you who she is, keep reading to find out more things about her!

An Author Or A Teacher??

Now, is Mrs. Dudek an author or a teacher? For starters, she loves teaching kids so much and hearing new ideas. Mrs. Dudek also likes to share things in class. The best part about her job is that she sees how well her student’s perspectives change over time and grow. Not every kid might be the easiest to teach if you know what I mean 😅. Some of them are a bit of a pain...  Anyway, she thinks that every day is a new and different day and she learns something new. Her inspiration to become a teacher was because she was raised by teachers and knew the value of education. Oh, and did you know that Mrs. Dudek has substituted for many other schools? She even used to teach at a private school! Now, she teaches at AW as one of the best teachers! She has taught here for 8 years. This is all for this paragraph, go down and read more to see some fun facts!

It's Time To Write Some Facts About Mrs. Dudek!!

Alright ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s time to celebrate! Do you know why it’s time to celebrate? We have to celebrate because it’s time for the fun part of this article. It’s the most fun cause we get to talk about the magic behind the teachers and their rules. Starting off backwards this time, Mrs. Dudek celebrates Christmas! And Mrs. Dudek gets to help out as a stagehand in a dance studio! Like an actual studio! How cool is that! And she also loves to walk and get in some time to exercise, especially by the boardwalk on the beach. I completely agree, especially in this weather. I mean I would love to go to a nice hot summery area by the beach! Anyways, It’s time for the favorites! Now Mrs. Dudek’s favorite food is Italian food yum! And Mrs. Dudek likes all the seasons so no need to be offended. Mrs. Dudek likes to listen to the piano which is a great instrument as the others (anyone else into guitar?). Mrs. Dudek’s favorite show is Blue Bloods. And now it’s time for her favorite color as you should be able to guess based on her favorite show (in case you don’t understand it’s blue).  Now that we have a Mrs. Dudek, where is Mr. Dudek? Or a little Dudek? Maybe 2? Well, as you could tell by what was said in the last sentence, you could probably see that Mrs. Dudek has two children (a daughter and a son), and a husband. And now her family well obviously she has a mom and dad but she also has an older brother. Mrs. Dudek was born and raised in Wayne but has some ancestors who were Italian, so it makes sense why she likes Italian food. Mrs. Dudek likes walking, family research, and is a huge Country music fan! I completely recommend her taking a trip to see Dolly Parton in Dollywood. And I mean it makes sense because she likes to spend time with friends and family and take a trip to the beach or window shop. Well, make sure to tune in next time for an interesting gym teacher! Oh no! I spoiled it for you guys! Oh well, I guess you will have to stay tuned to learn more about them! These are the besties signing off!!

Janavi Devraj - Article #5

The Perfect Dynamic Duo

By - Abibe Aliu, Mia Zambrano, & Audrey Gia Lee

Is This Perfect Duo Dynamic or Dynamite?!?

Woohoo! Another article from us is like a gift created just for you!! Ok, so I bet you guys are sick and tired of us doing this. Don’t be! These two teachers are amazing and you don’t want to miss this article! Now, who are these teachers you ask? I bet you didn’t ask but I’ll tell you anyway. Drum roll please, *drums playing in the background*, Mr. Nussban and Mr. Luscio! Ok, so where do we start? Hmmmmmm.  Let's start with Mr. Nussban! His birthday is November 16th! Just like Mrs. Duin! He tricked me by saying Mrs. Duin and him are twins! Yeah right!  On Wednesday the 16th he turned 30!  Now for Mr. Luscio! His birthday is February 17th! UGH, why does it have to be so far away!?! Ok, sorry about that. He is 33 years old.  Ok, I bet you’re tired of this paragraph so move on to the next two, which are better than this one. And yes you have to do more reading! In the end, you will become a teacher so learn! Oops! I spoiled some of the ending for you! Oh well! Go read! Enjoy!

Is This Duo Fun?!?

Here are some things about these teachers’ jobs. Starting off with Mr.Nussban!  He taught at West Essex before AW. We are probably his favorite! And has taught for 6 years total. We were the best years of his teaching life.  He teaches social studies because he loves history and teaching it to other kids. Or maybe he just likes to tell his students stories about his life (his-story).  Mr. Nussban always loves to see kids grow and mature (Do all of them really mature or is he saying that to cover for them hmmmm) over the years.  He became a teacher because his school teachers made a big impact on his life, so now because of that, he is an AW teacher (Beat that Essex!)!  Now finally the great, Mr. Luscio. He taught at Wayne hills for 1 year (he taught it then but not when I’m going there!), and AW for 9.  Now that's a pretty long time!  Since he is not amazing at math, he is a P.E teacher!  The reason he wanted to do this job is that he likes to see kids being active instead of just sitting around (totally not me).  Anyway, like Mr. Nussban,  Mr. Luscio also became a teacher because of a teacher he had before that made an impact on his life. Why do all these teachers become teachers because of a teacher they had? Like were teachers better back then?? I doubt that.  So now, he hopes to make an impact on ours too! Let me guess now we’re going to become teachers? When does this end!?!?! These two teachers are incredible and have the most important thing in common. Their teachers influenced them to go on and choose their careers! So be prepared to become a teacher too!

Let’s Blow Up Some Facts About This Duo!

Judging by the title it seems like we are blowing up stuff. I am here to tell you that this is false and if you tell anyone we are blowing things up we will blow things up and the thing will be you. So now back to the show! Well, article but we all know we would slay in a tv show. Anyways we must get back to our facts.  Our first teacher is Mr. Nussban. He coaches a high school hockey team (Yeah Ms. Hokey team aka my friend).  And when Mr. Nussban isn’t working, he likes to sleep so if you sleep during class he won’t mind. (I hope) otherwise, I am going to fail his history class (Don’t get me wrong he is a great teacher, it’s just that history ain’t my thing). A side sport he likes to do while juggling his work is playing golf. Mr. Nussban is very interested in buying and selling stocks (not socks). He also has three siblings, an older sister and two younger brothers I know right so magical. Like I couldn’t relate to having three siblings or can I? Anyways, enough chit-chatting and get back to work! Oh. Wait, that’s me! *awkward smile* So now it’s time for the favorites… roll the clip! Oh, wait there is none cause we blew it up. Oh well, let's just go with the facts. His favorite movie is Remember the Titans (remind you of anyone? Hint: it was one of the last people we interviewed) his favorite show is Parks and Recreation, his favorite color is green, and his favorite instrument is Mr. Maher’s bright red electric guitar (of course). Should I ask him to play? Well, let’s save that discussion for another time, his favorite season is spring, and his favorite food is mac’n’cheese. And finally, he celebrates Christmas, thanksgiving, and the 4th of July. Now on with Mr. Luscio move aside Mr.Nussban (don’t find this offensive please). Mr. Luscio  also coaches a hockey team. He is very much into sports after all he is a gym teacher (not math). He also likes to watch movies and exercise when he doesn’t work. So maybe if I get him I can ask him to put on a movie during class. And he also likes driving boats and he sells insurance. I asked him during the interview if he can pay my family's insurance and he said no.  He has a younger sister and brother who is super magical. Speaking about family, let me introduce to you Mrs. Luscio and little Luscio! Which are his wife and son in case you couldn’t catch on. His favorite movie is Jaws (AHHHHH SHARK!!), his favorite show is Seinfield, his favorite instrument is guitar, his favorite season is summer, and his favorite food is cheeseburgers. He celebrates Christmas, Thanksgiving, and St. Patrick's day! Who knew teachers had a life?!? I did! Alright well, tune in next time to learn more about your teachers…who will be next? It could be your least favorite teacher or your most favorite teacher! Now, these are a group of friends leaving this doc! Peace  Out!

P.S. Tell your friends to read this article! And tune in next time for some more comedy,                                                               information, and stuff to use against you teachers (Joke)!

Mrs. Erny: Vice Principal Extraordinaire

By - Abibe Aliu, Mia Zambrano & Audrey Gia Lee

Who Is Mrs. Erny??

Mrs. Erny is the Vice Principle Extraordinaire, here at AW. Her birthday is November 21st and she is 35 years old, even though she looks like she’s 25! Mrs. Erny is really nice. She loves the people and colleagues (staff) here at AW. Sadly though she has to work at home as well.

Mrs. Erny or Mrs. earn-ie??

As a vice principal extraordinaire, Mrs. Earny has a very important job, that's our job to tell you what she does! She does what any other vice principal does including having a candy bowl in her office (yummy). She only works at the best middle school in the galaxy, AW!! Meaning we’re her favorite!! She worked at this amazing school for 12 years. Mrs. Erny loves being a vice principal extraordinaire. She gets to connect with amazing students in all grade levels. She likes to make a difference in our (The students) lives. Thank you, Mrs. Erny! She also loves to be able to work here with the best staff in the galaxy. She likes to guide them when they teach. Mrs. Erny hopes that she could make an impact on the entire school. Mrs. Erny had a small group of students as an amazing teacher. When she was a teacher at the best middle school in the galaxy (AW) she thought she could make an impact with a larger group of students. Well, she got her dream. This talented Mrs. Erny loves to be a leader.

Fun Or Boring??

Which one? I think we should start off with the fun stuff (hopefully we don’t have enough room and time for the plain old boring stuff). Speaking of fun, Mrs. Ernie loves to be with her family and loves to go shopping for some new flashy clothes. Maybe if we are lucky Mrs. Ernie can model for us. She also loves to watch TV so she shares in our pain when we can’t watch TV during school. She also loves to go to the beach (hopefully she brings her amazing students to the beach with her) and spends time with friends. Mrs. Erny used to coach lacrosse, so get some lessons with her lacrosse players! She is a big sports fan and played sports all her life like soccer, fencing, and of course lacrosse. Her favorite sports teams are the eagles (football) and rangers (hockey). She has a brother named Brian that’s three years younger than her. Speaking of family, she has a husband and two kids named Ben who is 4 years old, and Zack who is 1 year old. Her favorite show is Grey’s Anatomy, her favorite color is blue, her favorite instruments are saxophones & drums, Her favorite food is sushi, her favorite season is Autumn, and her favorite movie is Remember the Titans. Sounds like a good movie. She celebrates Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween. And that’s all the time we have folks thank you! Yes! No time and room for boring stuff!

Mrs. Duin: Principle Or PrinciPAL??

By Abibe Aliu, Mia Zambrano, & Audrey Gia Lee

Mrs. Duin, Who??

Now, who is this Mrs. Duin? Well, Mrs. Duin is the Principle at AW, if you couldn’t guess. Well I mean of course you would know who she is. Her birthday is November 16th. She is in her 40’s but she looks like she’s in her 30’s! Mrs. Duin likes candy. She even has a bowl of candy on her desk. So now the big question is: Is she our Principle or PrinciPAL??

Mrs. Duin Or Mrs. Do-It??

Mrs. Duin's job has given her the opportunity to be able to visit different schools like Schuyler Colfax and Theunis Dey as either a vice principal or teacher. She has worked at Schuyler for 4 years and at Theunis for 8 years. She now works at AW. Obviously, AW has to be her favorite. If it is not she isn’t a PrinciPAL she's our Principle! The reason she wanted to work at a school is to watch kids learn and she loves being with kids. She was inspired by her principal when she was a teacher, obviously! She loves working in a school and works hard, duh. She even works on the weekends, sadly.

Magic Or Facts??

Which one? Well, it doesn’t matter because we are giving you both. Let’s start off with some magic. You know like the things no one would ever think Mrs. Duin would do or like. That’s very magical. Something that is very magical is that Mrs. Duin likes to read and go to soccer games. I can’t believe that Mrs. Duin likes to read! Oh and soccer but especially reading oh and she also likes to bake! I am sure if we protest we can make Ms. Duin bake us cookies. Another magical thing is that she has a cricket machine! It’s a machine that catches crickets! Just kidding, it is a machine that makes things like crafts and stuff like that and she is so interested in maybe selling some of those things. Another magical thing is that Ms. Duin has an older brother and sister. I know what could get more magical than that! Actually a lot of things are but anyways, speaking of family, she has two teenage boys and two German Shepherds. One other magical thing is all of her favorite things. Like her favorite show is Law and Order, her favorite color is red, her favorite season is summer, and her favorite food is pasta. And the final thing that has the magic touch is that she celebrates holidays! She celebrates Halloween, Christmas, Cinco De Mayo, 4th of July, Easter, birthdays, Father's Day, and finally Mother's day! Now it’s time for the facts! Oh wait, there are no facts, guess you’ll have to tune in next time! Now for the answer to our questions: Is she our Principle or Principal? Well she's our drum roll please, she’s… our… PrinciPAL!! Well, that answers our question. See you, next time folks!

Alsa or Salsa?!?

By - Mia Zambrano, Abibe Aliu, & Audrey Gia Lee

Salsa or Pasta? Excuse you, it's alsa!!!

You might be wondering who this Salsa guy really is. Well, his name is, drum roll, please… Mr. Alsa.!!  He is a teacher on the Colt's side at AW. Mr. Alsa teaches History to amazing 6th-grade students! His Birthday is December 17th. He is 36 years old (He looks like he's 25). You might think that Mr. Asla is scary but he is SOOOO nice! He is Alsa really funny (get my joke??)! Mr. Alsa is really into memes. Two of his memes are, “Why would you do the exact same thing I told your classmate not to do??” and “I said the answer to that question less than a minute ago!”. The greatest meme of all time (in my opinion) that's in his classroom is “Mufasa: Everything the light touches is related to history class. Simba: But what about that shadowy place over there? Mufasa: Math, it's beyond our borders you must NEVER go there!”. Sorry, Mrs. Cerullo.

The Mystery in His-story

Now you might be thinking, what is the story of how this great person became a teacher? Mr. Alsa has been working at AW for 14 years. He also worked at Paramus High School for half a year. He likes History. He wants his students to understand it better. Mr. Alsa likes to interact with kids, he had teachers who made his life better. He wants to do the same for his wonderful sixth-grade students! Mr. Alsa makes History fun! Even though you think it's boring.

The Magic Behind Him (and only him)!!!

Now we’re about to tell you the magic behind him. Get ready!  So where should we start, hmmm… oh yeah! Mr. Alsa used to work for a cruise line during the Summer. He also loves to travel and cook. Maybe if he gets his own restaurant and if he cooks well he’ll let his students come in for free, that sounds nice! He should really do that! Mr. Alsa has some hobbies which are photography, travel, and cooking. Now here's something that you wouldn’t know about him, he doesn’t watch sports but only watches the Olympics. Sorry for all of you sports fans! His favorite movie is Mrs. Doubtfire. Hmm, that seems like a good movie. I Love Lucy is his favorite show. His favorite color, instrument, and season are blue, violin, and Autumn. Mr. Alsa celebrates Thanksgiving and Christmas. Oh here's another fact you probably didn’t know, Mr. Alsa has an older brother. Double the Alsa’s double the salsa’s!

Is There a Benefit in Doing Homework?

By: Janavi Devraj and Audrey Gia Lee

How much homework is too much? Or is it just not enough?  A few questions have been debated over the years. While this research produced mixed results, there is some information that can help inform decisions about homework.

Many students complain about the amount of homework they receive from the school.  Is it beneficial to do these assignments? Homework has been in the headlines and continues to be a topic of controversy with claims that students are suffering under the burden of huge amounts of homework.  School board members, parents, and educators might wish to turn to the research for answers to their questions about the benefits and drawbacks.

The research claims that homework benefits students' mental and academic success. The amount of homework completed by students seems to be more positively associated with student achievement than the amount of homework assigned by teachers. I mean if you think about it, homework is helping students. If no students completed any work at home they probably won’t accomplish things, as well in school if they didn’t do homework.

It has been known that most people complain about homework, especially math. Imagine not doing homework for a month. You might think “ Oh, that sounds amazing “. You're wrong, your grades will most likely drop, and you will lose focus at school. It’s better to be more familiar with what you are learning so you can understand it better. Ever heard of the phrase “ Practice makes perfect”? It's exactly like that. The more you do something the better you get at it.
