Hershey vs. Milky Way

Hershey and Milky Way are both very delicious chocolates but they do have many differences. Hershey’s chocolate is a lot more famous and successful company than Milky Way. When the Hershey company started to sell milk chocolate it made Hershey’s chocolate the most popular chocolate. Whereas, Milky Way was unique for its malted-flavored nougat which also made Milky Way a popular chocolate. Hershey’s chocolate was also the first company to ship mass-produce chocolate. Hershey is a huge chocolate company, but they have a secret to preserving their chocolate which is wrapping it in paper foil to keep it from melting; the paper foil wrapped around the chocolate is also a Hershey trademark. Instead of preserving chocolate with paper foil, Milky Way preserves their chocolate through weather preservation so it can be sold anywhere at anytime. Milky Way’s milk also uses milk from dairy farms however, Hershey doesn’t. Milky Way was created with the inspiration of Hershey. 

Even though the Milky Way company  and the Hershey company have many differences they also have a few similarities. Both of the companies have created very unique chocolate that is very popular in the country. The Milky Way company was once a part of the Hershey company. And both companies have their own place to sell or advertise in different towns or states. They both use the same type of milk chocolate since Milky Way’s Chocolate is supplied by Hershey. Hershey and Milky Way chocolate were both created in northeastern America. They were both originally a part of the Hershey company and remained friends instead of competition.


                           Creating Chocolate

Chocolate is a very delicious treat to eat on special occasions. However, do you know how chocolate is made? Well, here are the steps on how chocolate is made in an actual chocolate factory. The first step is getting milk. More than 250,000 gallons of milk are manufactured in a factory. That’s a lot of milk but they use it to make a lot of chocolate. Next, the milk would have to mix with sugar. This step is very important because when the sugar and milk mixes it gets rid of the water that is produced in the milk. Once the water isn’t produced in the milk anymore, the milk and sugar mix together to become a substance like taffy or a soft caramel. After this the cocoa beans become processed. Millions of cocoa beans are being stored in trains at any given time. Four hundred beans can create one pound of chocolate. Last the processed cocoa beans and the new sticky substance mixed becomes chocolate. Once they become chocolate you would put it in a cool and dry place. Then they are ready to eat!
