Micah Ward

Micah Ward is a native of Georgia and is retired from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He and his wife Catherine lived in Colorado Springs from 2012 to 2016 and then found paradise on Amelia Island. They have been residents of the island for the past year. Micah started writing in 2011 with magazine articles and short stories. In 2013 and 2016 he received an Honorable Mention at the Lorian Hemmingway Short Fiction Contest in Key West, FL. While in Colorado Micah wrote for the Pikes Peak Road Runners Club newsletter and was named the Outstanding Club Writer of 2012 by the Road Runners Club of America. He has been published in Ultrarunning and Marathon & Beyond magazines as well as the online edition of the Running Journal.

I am a life long runner and a recent writer. I began running in 1977 and have raced everything from 200 meters to 36 miles.

I started writing in 2011 after retiring from a career in law enforcement. My running articles have been published in Ultrarunning and Marathon & Beyond magazines as well as the newsletters of the Pikes Peak Roadrunners and Buffalo Chips Running Club.

In 2012 I was named the Outstanding Club Writer of the Year by the Road Runners Club of America. I also write short stories and received Honorable Mention in the Lorian Hemingway Short Fiction contest in 2013 and 2016.

I am a Georgia native and was stationed in California and New Hampshire while serving in the Air Force. After a career with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation my wife and I moved to Colorado Springs, CO for four years. We now live in Fernandina Beach, FL which is located on Amelia Island. Yes, I live on an island!
