Hello, my name is Braxton Shearer. I am excited to be your Mathematics teacher this year! Monticello has been my home all of my life and I am a proud alumni of Wayne County High School. I graduated from Lindsey Wilson College in May 2019, where I obtained a BA in Middle Grades Education (5-9) with an emphasis in Mathematics and a minor in Business Administration. This is my third year teaching and I am excited to be returning to Wayne County Middle School. You may have seen me around the school, or possibly even at Walmart; I also work there as a second job.
I am very much looking forward to having you in class and watching your skills and knowledge grow this year. This year some of the major topics we will be covering are: rational number operations; expressions, equations, and inequalities; proportional relationships; geometry; probability; and sampling and data analysis.
When you have questions or wish to talk with me about your child, please feel free to email me at braxton.shearer@wayne.kyschools.us or to call me at school. Our number is (606) 348-6691. My preferred way of communication is via email; however, phone calls are always welcome. The best times to contact me are before school (7:00am-8:00am), after school (3:00pm-4:00pm), or during my planning (11:30am-12:20pm). If the times listed above are inconvenient, please contact me to schedule an appointment time that will work for you.
Additionally, you and your parents/guardians should have already signed up to received Remind notifications for the 7th Grade Red Team. Remind will be a great tool for me to quickly share information and reminders to the entire team.
I am excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I am looking forward to a happy and productive school year. Despite these unprecedented times, with the cooperation and support from you and your family, I know that we can make this the best year yet!
When we get to return to in person instruction, students will need the school supplies that were asked for! Additionally, if you have the means to help provide items on the wishlist, donations would be appreciated!
