This may not contain all necessary information. Refer to the National Technical Standards for a full description of the possible contest components.
No CELL phones or other electronic devices not approved by a competition's committee are NOT allowed in the competition area.
Resume not required at regional contest.
Clothing Requirements:
White shirt or white polo
Black slacks
Black leather work or dress closed toed shoes (Wearing socks or hose is no longer required.)
*Note: White cosmetology smock or apron can be worn
Also:
Students should dress professionally.
Students should NOT have holes in their clothing or inappropriate language on t shirts or sweatshirts.
Students should NOT have any logo or identifying writing on any apparel worn during the competition.
Students can wear SkillsUSA clothing, but it is not required.
Details about the contest:
Contests will be held on Saturday, February 3 from approximately (registration begins at 7:30 am) 8:30 am - 1:00 pm
Location: Area 31 Career Center (1200 N. Girls School Road, Indianapolis, IN. 46214)
Cosmetology Contest
Contest Site:
We will provide the following: shampoo bowls, mirrors, tables, mannequin head stands, pictures of a 90 degree haircut, first aid kit, blood spill kit
Provided by the Contestant: Students supply all other items needed; they should have access to the following list of items (they cannot share materials/items/equipment):
Mannequin head with long hair (to be used for long hair up do and two hair cuts)
Cutting shears
Thinning shears
Razor and spare blade
Clipper
Thermal tools (flat iron and/or curling iron)
Blow dryer
Styling product(s) of choice
Combs
Brushes
Spray bottle (filled with water)
Towel
Hair clips
Gloves
Shampoo and conditioner
Coil cotton
Test questions for the test will be based on Burmax Co.Inc., Fantastic Sam's, Marianna, Milady, Regis Corp./Supercuts, SportsClips and Pivot Point International.

maintain a clean and organized work station.
demonstrate appropriate sanitation and safety procedures.
demonstrate a professional attitude and communication.
stop working when time is called. (Penalties will be assessed for touching the model or mannequin after time is called.)
