Happy New Year! January 2, 2024
There has been an extension for membership and regional registrations until Friday, January 12, 2024. The BYES and contests will be posted as soon as possible after that date. Be patient. I will, however, post the specific guidelines and materials and equipment needed as soon as I get them from the contest Tech Chairs.
Remember that your first reference should be with the National Technical Standards for the contest/s in which you have students registered. These are available through the SkillsUSA national website. Once you have become a member, you will have access to all technical standards. Although we will not address ALL of the contest components, these standards will give you a general guidelines for which you and your students should be prepared.
I will link the information for the various contests as quickly as I can. I will be glad to assist you in accessing this information if you have any difficulties.
I look forward to working with you!

Dear Advisor,
Happy New Year! I hope that you and your students are doing well, and that you are ready to start a new semester of great learning.
This is a LONG email (also posted on the home page of the SkillsUSA Indiana Region 3 website), but the information is important. Here is the link to the SkillsUSA Indiana Region 3 2024 website
At this point in time, we have about 190 contestants in a variety of contests. Since we will not close registration until Friday, Jan. 12, I will be unable to share an update on BYEs until maybe Thurs., Jan. 11. If you have not already registered your student competitors, please do so as soon as possible. We need to know far enough in advance to create a contest and find judges prior to our contest dates of Feb. 2 & 3, 2024.
Please continue your current membership drive. Students MUST BE A MEMBER to be able to COMPETE. Registration has been extended (see below). Students have from now until January 12 to register for this year's regional competition. Remember in order to compete, students must be registered members of SkillsUSA.
Registration Information:
Membership registration ends Friday, January 12, 2024 - Hard deadline (If students are not registered by this date, they will not be allowed to compete.)
Student membership fee: $17.00 (Student)
Regional registration CLOSES on Friday, January 12, 2024
Regional registration fee: $15.00* (tone skills event and one leadership event)
Students MUST be members in order to be registered to compete in a regional competition and beyond.
Advisors need to register, but there is no cost (this allows us to make sure you have access to National Technical Standards to use in classroom instruction).
Transportation – at your own expense
The cost of meals is NOT included in your regional fee. There will NOT be any food sold at Friday evening's Leadership contest event. There will, however, be a limited menu of items for sale on Saturday. This will include pizza, cookies, drinks, and chips.
**Registrations must be completed and submitted by January 12, 2024 for ALL REGIONAL COMPETITIONS!)

Technical Standards are available, but you (an advisor) must become a member FIRST. After YOU become a member, you will have access to the Technical Standards for all events. There is a video on the Main page on the Skillsusa registration site to help you access the Tech Standards.

Skills Contests - Judged Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Area 31 and various other locations. (Snow Date: Skills Contests - Sat., Feb. 10, 2024)
Registration and contest start times will vary. You will need to check the Region 3 website for information specific to the contest of your students. SkillsUSA Indiana Region 3 2024 form
A maximum of four students from your school may register in each of the leadership contests.
Students who are entered in a Skills contest can compete in a Leadership and/or Occupationally Related Career Competition (held on Friday, Feb. 2) at no additional cost.
Detailed information will be entered as soon as it is available. Check regularly.
The goal is to hold a contest if two or more schools are competing even if all five will advance to the state competition. There is no guarantee that this can be accommodated. This decision is based on availability of space and judges. First priority will go to those contests with over five contestants.
Skills contests will be held at a variety of locations. The goal is to allow student competitors the chance to compete at a post-secondary institution or with a business partner if possible.

Request for Assistance with Contests:
*If you have a post-secondary institution or business partner that might be interested in hosting or serving as Tech Chair for any of the contests listed below, please share my name and contact information or email me theirs.
*The following contests could be held for the first time; I would love assistance in finding judges and planning their contests: Natural Hair Braiding and Wedding Cake Decorating.
*If you have post-secondary or business partners that might want to judge (without being in charge), we have spots for them in any contest. Volunteering as a judge is a great way to see the best of the best talents in Marion and surrounding counties showcase their talents and skills. Just let me know if anyone is interested. We are always looking for partners.
