Skills Contest - Precision Machining - 2020

Purpose: to evaluate each contestant's preparation for employment in the field of Computer Numeric Control Milling and Turning.

Clothing Requirements:

  • Students should dress professionally.
  • Students should NOT have holes in their clothing or inappropriate language on t shirts or sweatshirts.
  • Students should NOT have any logo or identifying writing on any apparel worn during the competition.
  • Students can wear SkillsUSA clothing, but it is not required.

A resume is NOT required for the regional contest.

Equipment and Materials Needed:

Supplied by the technical committee:

  • All equipment for the contest.
  • Measuring tools, milling tools and turning tools for them to use.

Supplied by the contestant:

  • Aluminum piece: finished product will be 1 x 2 x 3 inches
    • Please cut a bit big for the milling part.
    • It should be at least 1/64 larger all around.
  • 1018 CRS 1 ½” dia. x 5 “ long
  • Scientific calculator
  • Pencil
  • Machinery’s Handbook (optional)
  • Students do NOT need to bring a resume.

Knowledge Performance:

  • This contest will NOT have a written exam at the regional level.

Skill Performance:

  • Turning,
  • Milling,
  • Grinding,
  • Measurement, and
  • Written test
