Keep up the great work, musicians! Here's what we did in class this week:
Reviewed how to unpack safely and where to store cases during class
Reviewed our 5 steps to get into proper playing position. Reviewed "ready" position
WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW FOR YOUR POSITION STEPS - HOW WE GET INTO PLAYING POSITION!!
Reviewed the "Ant Song" which teaches us the names of our open strings, and played it as a group
Reviewed our "Open Strings Songs" and played the DAD song and, in classes where we had time, G Whiz! We added BAR LINES after every four beats of our open strings songs to help organize the music into "measures."
In classes where we had time, we played a few songs from our Essential Elements Book, pg. 4, using the open strings D and A.
For next week, please:
Make sure you have all your strings materials! Binder, pencil, Essential Elements book, shoulder rest (violins/violas only), endpin anchor (cello/bass only), music stand set up for home practice. LABEL EVERYTHING WITH YOUR NAME!!!
Violins/violas: ask a parent to put together your KUN shoulder rest . Cellos/basses: ask a parent to help you set up your anchor or unpack your rock stop. LABEL IT WITH YOUR NAME!
