Hi 3rd grade musicians! We are so excited to have you in strings!
Here's what we did in class today:
Passed out instruments, accessory bags, and music stands!
Learned how to safely unpack our instruments
Reviewed the parts of the instrument
Learned how to properly hold our instruments
Learned our string names and our very first song - the Ant Song!
Here's what to do BEFORE next week's strings class:
Check that you have all of your strings materials
Binder with pencil
Essential Elements for Strings Book
Shoulder rest or sponge (violins/violas only). Have a parent help you put your shoulder rest together by following the instructions in the box or watching this video HERE!
Endpin anchor (cello/bass only). Cellos - click HERE to learn how to adjust your endpin anchor strap!
REMINDER: Cellos & basses are NOT allowed on the bus! If you take the bus to school on your lesson day, please make a plan with your family to drop off/pick up your instrument from school on this day!
Music stand (lives at home, DO NOT bring to school)
Set up your music stand at home in a quiet spot - this is your practicing space!
Plan out with your family when you will practice your instrument each week, and get practicing! You cannot succeed in strings without practicing your instrument at home! Use the "Notes for Success" page your teacher gave you to help!
Watch this video to review how to hold your instrument!
Practice the Ant Song to review the names of the strings! If you are up for an extra challenge, look ahead to the other open string songs! Below are helpful videos to remind you how to play the Ant Song (although you can ignore the playing position):
We can't wait to see you again next time! We will do much more playing and learn some other new songs!
Musically,
Ms. Tandon & Ms. Pisklo
Below is the music all students received in class this week - please print if your student was absent or misplaced it!
Also, some classes might not have received the "Open Strings Songs"; feel free to check them out below and give them a try.
