WAYLAND STRINGS Elementary & Middle School
Welcome to the site for Wayland Strings, grades 3-8!

Beginning strings (grade 3) includes instruction on violin, viola, cello and bass.
In 4th & 5th grade, students meet once a week for group lessons, as well as meeting once a week for orchestra rehearsal.
In middle school, there are three orchestras: 6th grade orchestra, 7/8 orchestra, and Honors Chamber Orchestra. The first two are open to all string players in those grades, and meet twice a week for 54 minutes. HCO is a by-audition select ensemble open to students in grades 6-8. It meets once a week for an hour.
In high school, students can participate in String Orchestra or, by audition, Honors Sinfonia. There are also opportunities to perform in the chamber music and full orchestra setting.

"All students will develop their individual playing skills at their personal rate, while growing as ensemble musicians through the use of orchestral repertoire and technique study. Students will become discerning listeners and will foster a lifelong appreciation and love for music. Most importantly, students will have FUN making music together!"
