Standards-Based Philosophy
Mode typically means the most common score (with a some situational exceptions)
In some instances the most recent score may be reported as the mode (ie. for students who needed additional support to demonstrate proficiency or a positive trend from check-in to test)
REMEMBER:
Students earning a mode of 3 or 4 are precisely where we want them to be -- showing proficiency or mastery consistently.
Students earning a mode of 2 or lower still have work to do and are encouraged to follow the PLAN SHEET PROCESS to be eligible for REASSESSMENT.
Students will receive a standards-based report card at the end of semester one and at the end of the school year.
Here are the academic performance skills indicators (used in PowerSchool Parent Portal at the end of a unit):
E - Student work exceeds the standard/skill (majority of modes of 4 in a unit)
M - Student work meets the standard/skill (modes of 3 and 4 in a unit)
NY - Student work does not yet meet the standard/skill (at least one mode of 2 in a unit)
U - Unsatisfactory student work (modes of 1 and 2 in a unit)
Reminder:
Every student has at least one opportunity to reassess if they have followed the required process. Students may reassess more than once only if all work for the unit is up-to-date.
