Illinois Licensed Clinical Social Worker
#149-008012
I have been a therapist for more than 40 years. I work with adults navigating various changes in life, and specialize in teaching practical coping skills. I work with individual adults, and have worked with the LGBQT community since before there was an acronym. I treat depression and trauma and its impacts on relationships, and add coaching and techniques from Neuro-Linguistic Programming for additional support in facilitating change.
When you make a connection to another person in counseling, you offer them a safe space to "step out of themselves," and discuss their own behavior from a different perspective of detached observation. I help people to discover the strengths, skills and tools that they have and help them to make meaningful strategic changes in the way they think, feel and behave.

Why No Insurance?
I do not accept insurance as insurance requires me to diagnose/label you with a major mental illness and then demands a complete focus on symptoms and treatment.
Perhaps you have experienced this when you visit your Primary Care Physician for medical care, and he/she stares at their tablet the entire time, rushing you through the questions as they tap each of the questions on the list.
I prefer using a solutions/strengths-focus in my counseling. I help you find the resources to make positive changes in the direction YOU want to go.
Fees:
$90.00 for a 55-minute telehealth session
$175.00 for a 90 minute in-person session
