Waverly Education Foundation Grants

I am incredibly grateful to share that I have been awarded three grants for our classroom and school from the Waverly Education Foundation to support hands-on learning, creativity, and student engagement.

Thanks to their generous funding, we will be able to bring the following opportunities to life:

Kickin’ It Up a Notch: Soccer Goals for All:
Awarded $1,100 to purchase high-quality soccer goals that will support inclusive play, teamwork, and physical activity for all students.

STEM Picture Book Collection:
Awarded $350 to build a diverse and engaging library of STEM-focused picture books that spark curiosity and help students connect literacy with science, engineering, and real-world problem-solving.

Microscopes & Fossil Discoveries Program:
Awarded $850 to bring new microscopes and fossil exploration tools into our classroom, giving students authentic experiences as young scientists and paleontologists.

I am deeply thankful for the Foundation’s commitment to supporting innovative and enriching learning experiences for all Waverly students. These grants make a meaningful impact, and I look forward to seeing the excitement and growth they bring to our learners.

Innovation in the Making: A 3D Printer for Our Class

I am thrilled to share that I was selected as the Ingham County winner of Grubaugh Orthodontics’ One Class at a Time Grant! Our classroom has been awarded $1,000, which will go toward purchasing a 3D printer to launch a MakerSpace right here at Winans Elementary.

This grant will open so many opportunities for my students by giving them hands-on experiences with STEM activities, design thinking, and creativity. With a 3D printer, my students will be able to bring their ideas to life—turning imagination into real-world creations. From building prototypes to exploring engineering concepts, this MakerSpace will give students the tools to problem-solve, innovate, and grow their confidence as creators.

A huge thank-you to Grubaugh Orthodontics for supporting teachers and investing in our youth. Their generosity helps classrooms like ours dream bigger and provide students with opportunities that make learning engaging and fun.

517 Ed Tech Classroom Innovation Grant – Sensory Floor Tiles

Thanks to the generous support of REMCSave, I was honored to receive a $250 517 Ed Tech Educator Classroom Innovation Grant to purchase sensory floor tiles for my classroom. These interactive tiles have become a valuable tool for supporting student engagement, movement, and self-regulation throughout the school day. They provide students with opportunities for sensory input, brain breaks, and active learning while creating a more inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning needs. This grant has had a meaningful impact on student well-being, focus, and overall classroom success.

As I step into this new school year, I can't help but feel a wave of excitement and anticipation. Every detail in my room represents not just my journey but also the dedication and knowledge gained from my time at Michigan State University.

All those late nights studying, hands-on experiences, and lessons learned have truly prepared me for this moment. I’m eager to put all that I've learned into practice and create a welcoming, vibrant, and engaging environment for my students.
