Stomach, Small Intestine, Large Intestine, Pancreas, Liver, Gallbladder
Located just above the intestines, the stomach helps to break down the food by mixing it with gastric juices and acids. These are produced through glands in the stomach and they help to turn the food into chyme. In total, the average time that the food spends in the stomach is about 2-4 hours.
Fun Fact:
It is possible for someone to live without some of their stomach with the help of a special diet. This is possible because most of the digestion process happens in the small intestine.

The small intestine is located inside the abdomen in the middle of the large intestine. It is about 10-16 ft long, which is nearly triple of the large intestine. With the help of the pancreas and liver, it works to further break down the chyme so that your body can absorb all the vitamins, proteins, minerals, fats, and carbohydrates by beginning to absorb the liquid.
Fun Fact:
Depending on what you eat, it can take up to 4 hours for all of your food to move through the small intestine.

Located behind the stomach, the pancreas is a tadpole shaped organ with two major functions, the production of enzymes (to help with digestion) and hormones (to control blood sugar). The enzymes help break down fat, proteins, and carbohydrates.
Fun Fact:
Your pancreas produces about 8 oz of digestive enzymes per day.

The liver holds most of the body’s nutrients and removes toxins that could harm the body. It also turns the sugars from your food into glycogen (which acts as a way to preserve energy).
Fun Fact:
The liver is the largest internal organ, and the 2nd largest in the entire human body (the 1st is skin).

Your gallbladder, is a small pear shaped organ located under your liver. It stores bile, used to break up fat in your food.
Fun Fact:
The word "Gall" means bile in old English, which makes it called a bile bladder because it holds bile.
