Welcome to the Wausau School District's Instructional Technology website. The Wausau School District is the 13th largest district in the state of Wisconsin and sits in the very heart of central Wisconsin. Encompassing 258 square miles, the District is located at the crossroads of two major, four-lane highways, Interstate 39 (north and south) and Wisconsin State Highway 29 (east and west). It includes the City of Wausau as well as the townships of Berlin, Hewitt, Maine, Rib Mountain, Stettin, Texas, Wausau, and the Village of Brokaw. The Wausau School District is a diverse community nestled in and around the Wisconsin River Valley. Its waterways, forests, and agricultural lands make it an inviting place to call home.

Our students speak over 40 different home languages. To help each student reach their greatest potential, Newcomer Programs are available to students new to the United States who arrive without English speaking and comprehension skills. These students, in grades PK-12, receive small group instruction that gives them a great start at achieving academic and social success in our schools and community.

The greater Wausau area has nearly 85,000 residents. Of this number, approximately 40,000 people live within Wausau’s city limits. Wausau is divided by the Wisconsin River and is the county seat of Marathon County, the largest of Wisconsin’s 72 counties that boasts 1,584 square miles.
