The Wisconsin Department of Justice, The Office of School Safety, and Wausau School District are thrilled to announce the launch of the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT Resource Center, or SUSO. The Speak Up, Speak Out Wisconsin is a threat reporting system or a tip line that is available 24/7 and is free to all. SUSO is a comprehensive and confidential, one-stop place to turn to with your concerns regarding school and student safety. Concerning behaviors could include school threats, suicidal indicators, self-harm, and violence to others.
On November 18th, students downloaded the app to their Chromebook and learned about Speak Up, Speak Out. Students learned about reporting concerning behaviors to a trusted adult. Parents/guardians and students can also visit speakup.widoj.gov or by calling 1-800-MY-SUSO-1. Resource Center staff work around-the-clock to respond to reports and to deploy a response locally by communicating directly with school administrators, law enforcement, and counselors.
