Here is a list of links that will help troubleshoot and report problems with technology at home. It is important that you submit a Google form, rather than calling the school offices to report a problem. We can track requests and troubleshoot efficiently if you submit them via these forms. Here are some additional tips and tricks when setting up a home network for online learning and diagnosing problems:
The first point of contact should be your Internet service provider to determine the plan you are on is working correctly.
Limit the number of devices connected to your WiFI network while attending Zoom class meetings (disconnect all phones, gaming systems, etc.).
Close all unnecessary tabs and applications.
Move closer to your wireless router.
Ensure your WCSD Chromebook is on a Chrome version 84. Click in the bottom right corner, click on Settings (the gear icon), and click About Chrome OS. If your device is not updated, please contact your school LMTC to have it updated.
Verify that your WiFi router is up-to-date with software (check with manufacturer).
If experiencing connection issues, the best option is to connect the Chromebook directly to your Internet (especially if using Zoom). You'll need to use an ethernet cable (make sure to purchase the length you'll need to reach your server) & Ethernet to USB adapter.
Reboot your Chromebook and iPad daily. If you are still noticing issues, reboot after each Zoom meeting. For Chromebooks, hold down the power button until it turns all the way off, then restart after 1-2 minutes.
Turn off your camera during your Zoom meetings if you are having trouble with freezing or lagging during the meeting.
Please note that inappropriate use of technology and school-issued devices may result in loss of technology privileges.
