Freshman

WELCOME

ALL Freshman are invited to participate in our annual Freshman Ignite Day! August 30, 2017 8:00-3:00pm

We understand the apprehensions that incoming freshmen may have. The West Ignition program mentors strive to make the transition into high school smoother and full of fun, making sure every student knows they have a place they belong!!

During the day, upperclassmen mentors will lead freshmen through team-building activities, a tour around the school, assemblies, a scavenger hunt, and a condensed class schedule. Plus, a delicious pizza lunch will be provided.

Throughout the year, mentors will stay in contact with freshmen, making them aware of school events and assisting if they need any help with schoolwork or just a friend to talk to. Ignition mentors are extremely excited to meet this year's freshmen and look forward to making sure each individual has a positive high school experience.

MAP Assessment: www.nwea.org.

During the 2009 - 2010 school year the School District of Waukesha embarked on an exciting journey in the use of MAP assessments. MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) is an on-line assessment in reading and math that teachers and other professionals use to determine your child’s instructional levels, academic growth and other information that can help to improve teaching and learning.

This assessment will be administered in the Fall, Winter and Spring of the 2017-2018 school year to measure the academic level of our freshmen, and select sophomore/junior students so teachers can continue to individualize instruction for students throughout the remainder of the school year.

This test is also one key piece of information utilized in determining student needs in regards to being assigned to Academic Options. See more detailed information about Academic Options by accessing our school’s website, clicking the Academics tab and looking under the Academics/RTI heading.

Work Permits:

To Obtain A Work Permit You Must Have:
