The Crusades later on were not that important and didn't continue for a long time. The Fourth Crusade's Objective was first the same as the Crusades before but eventually turned to attack Constantinople which was a big success for the Venetians. The Fifth Crusade was the last Crusade controlled under the pope, the army started to attack Egypt but failed after 4 years of a journey and retreated to Europe. The later Crusades had only one success the Sixth Crusade which controlled Jerusalem for a short time. At last in 1291, the last stronghold of Europe in the East fell, and the Crusade Finally Ended, from 1096 to 1291, the Holy Land was still under the control of the Muslims. The start of the Crusade was The result of a power struggle, the Pope didn't have enough power and tried to use the Crusade to consolidate his position, but he died before the siege of Jerusalem, later on, during the Fourth Crusade, the Crusaders started to attack Constantinople, which was the place that called for help to them. Belief truly has power, it could easily begin a war and continue for 200 years, and it could easily let the Crusaders go forward one after another, regardless of life, it could also let people be hopeful even in the era where the plague was spreading everywhere.
