This letter includes some general information that will hopefully answer any questions you may have and will hopefully help you understand what to expect in the year ahead. If you have any questions, please contact me at 945.2776 or email: longoje@watertownps.org. Let’s work together to make the 2021-2022 school year a spectacular one!
Good to Know:
Transportation – If your child’s regular form of transportation changes, the school must be notified with a written note or phone call.
Absences – If your child is ill, please call the school to report the absence to the nurse. A written note should be sent to school following the absence. Please contact the office in the morning if you would like missed assignments sent home with a sibling or if you will be picking up missed assignments for your child. There should be at least 5 days notice in order to prepare assignments for students taking a vacation during the school year.
Personal Belongings – Please put your child’s full name on everything sent with them to school including: lunch boxes, backpacks, jackets, etc.
Folders:
Each student will be provided with an orange John Trumbull home/school folder. This folder will be used for correspondence between home and school. Notices and homework will be transported in this folder on a daily basis. All students will be responsible for emptying their folders each morning and collecting notices from their mailboxes at the end of each day. Please put any notes that need to come to school in this folder.
Sending Money to School:
Please send all money in a sealed envelope or small bag labeled with:
-Child’s name -Mrs. Longo -Purpose of the Money (pin# if lunch money)
Snack & Lunch:
Our class will have a ten minute snack break each morning. Please send in a healthy snack with your child. You may also send a water bottle to school with your child – our room gets hot in the warm weather!
Our class will have lunch from 11:15 until 11:40 each day. Lunch and breakfast are free of charge.
Important Message:
Please note that no toys are to be brought to school unless approved by the teacher for a sharing moment. During recess toys and games will be provided for the children to enjoy.
Birthdays:
Due to food allergies and the current Wellness Policy, food snacks are not to be brought from home. Please refer to the student handbook for details. As always, you may send in a special treat such as a toy, pencil, book, etc. for your child to hand out to the class. You may also purchase a snack from the Watertown Food Service (see the Watertown Public Schools website). Just a friendly reminder that birthday invitations may not be distributed at school!
