Don't Stress!

Tips for Getting Unstuck with School Work

  • Talk to Your Teacher

    • If you are struggling, reach out to your teacher.

      • Share your work in progress (sometimes it is even helpful to email your teacher a photo of your work) - don't wait until after assignments are due to ask for help.

  • Use School Time Wisely

    • Use study hall time, flex time, and other non-class time to schedule appointments to work with teachers and get extra help if needed.

  • Get Organized

    • Take time each week to organize your time and make a plan for when you will get school work done.

    • Do not wait until right before assignments are due to work on them - this allows for time to get help if needed.

    • Prioritize assignments. Due dates and the "size" of the assignment should be considered. Bigger assignments will take more time and should be spread out over a longer amount of time.

    • Your school counselor can help you with this skill if needed.

  • Find Your "Go-To" Team

    • Is your older brother the family author? Is your neighbor a math wiz? Figure out who you feel comfortable asking for help and use these people as resources when needed.

  • Eliminate Distractions

    • Working from home can make it difficult to stay focused. Be mindful of what distracts you (like that new PlayStation 5...) and find a place away from distractions to work.
