The members of the Portrait of a Graduate (PoG) committee are dedicated teachers and community members who are passionate about this work. Many of us are WCSD alumni, have children in the district or other deep community connections. One thing we all have in common is a desire to help our students be successful.
I have always wanted to help students achieve success and employment in their post-HS life. Success in life can take many paths, and everyone’s vision and mission is unique. I enjoy being part of a committee that is helping our students to fulfill their goals during and after HS.
I joined the POG team because I want to be a part of finding new and exciting opportunities for all students. Graduating is about more than just the day; it’s about the pathway getting there.
I joined this committee for the benefit of all students coming out of Watertown High School, no matter which track they choose after leaving high school.
Joining the Portrait of a Graduate was based on my pride in Watertown City School District. I graduated from WHS, married an alumni who also works in the district, have been working here for over 20 years and my own children went through the district. Needless to say, I care about the district and ways we can always improve.
As a graduate of Watertown High School, I have always been so thankful for the opportunities I was given as a student at Watertown High. Now, as a faculty member, I strive to set my students up for success from beyond the classroom. As a member of this committee, I am able to work alongside the teachers who shaped me as a student to continue the legacy of what it means to be a Cyclone.
As an alumni of Watertown City School District I truly love the Cyclone Community. I joined the committee to help identify and develop the needs of our students to be productive and contributing adults, who are as proud to be a Watertown Grad as I am.
I joined this committee because I wanted to be a part of a positive change in our school community. I wanted to make changes that will offer opportunities that will help our students learn and grow into well rounded members of society.
I joined the committee because I believe the entire American education system is overly focused on academics, at the expense of developing the citizenship and life skills young people actually need to thrive in a constantly changing world.
This committee was formulated at the same time my first child was graduating. I was excited to share my professional and personal experiences as a parent , alumni and staff member of the high school as we started our work developing what a Portrait of a Graduate from Watertown City School will and should look like. I have enjoyed involving our stakeholders during this process and recognizing and identifying how all of us at Watertown and our greater community play a role in developing our graduates. I look forward to continuing to our mission.
I joined this committee as a way to help shape the way families, community stakeholders, staff members, and most importantly students view what a graduate of our district looks like. My hope is that each student feels prepared to walk out our door regardless of what their path or journey looks like!
I am committed to helping students become life long learns and community citizens. With two children graduating from WHS and staying to support the Watertown community, I am happy to work on this committee.
