Classroom Guidance Lesson Schedule
September - Being a Learner and a Leader
Students will be able to show listening and focus skills in the classroom setting.
Students will learn what it means to be a leader.
Students will practice transitioning skills and learn how to transition quickly and quietly.
October - Friendship Lesson #1
Students will learn what it means to be a good friend to others in the classroom.
Students will practice fairness and respect skills.
October/November - Feelings Lesson #1 and #2
Students will be able to identify feelings in themselves and others.
Students will learn about stress and how the brain and the body respond to stress.
Students will practice coping strategies that they can utilize in the classroom.
December - Safety
Students will learn about safety and how to stay safe at school and at home.
Students will learn the difference between a good touch and a bad touch.
Students will identify their support system and who they can confide in.
January - Diversity
Students will be able to identify how they are alike and different from their classmates.
Students will understand their strengths and learn about some of their interests.
Students will gain confidence in who they are as an individual.
February/March - Problem Solving Lesson #1 and #2
Students will be able to identify the difference between small and big problems.
Students will understand that they are in control of their actions and that their actions have consequences whether good or bad.
Student will demonstrate positive character traits when solving problems.
Students will practice communicating during a conflict and working with others in a group setting.
March/April - Friendship Lesson #2
Students will learn about perspective taking and how to show empathy.
Students will friendship skills such as sharing, taking turns, showing self-control.
April/May - Being Responsible Lesson #1 and #2
Students will be introduces to jobs and careers they may enjoy.
Students will practice taking responsibility for their actions.
Students will learn about resilience and how resilience can grow.
