Dual enrollment is a term used to describe a program that allows high school students to take a high school course, with an opportunity to earn both high school and college credit. Access to college-level classes while in high school is not just about college credit. Dual Enrollment courses can also give students a jumpstart on learning about and preparing for careers. It can also be a means for students to save time and money in college and for them to develop a confidence in their ability to enroll in and be successful in higher education.
WHS offers students multiple Dual Enrollment courses, in a variety of curriculum areas, giving many opportunities to earn college credit while enrolled in high school courses. WHS offers 15 Advanced Placement courses, 11 UCONN Early College Experience (ECE) courses and 4 College and Career Pathways (CCP) courses through the CT Community College System. In addition, there are outside opportunities for students to achieve college credit through the Connecticut College New London Scholars Program and the Three Rivers High School Partnership Program (HSPP).
