Video Production 1 is designed to introduce students to the use of video production technology. The course will focus on the use of cameras and related equipment to produce live and scripted video and to solve technical problems associated with the production process. Through the use of our studio and its equipment, we will develop skills involved in the various roles associated with a video production studio. A large emphasis is placed on leveraging Marketing and how both content areas work together in the real world.

Video Applications 1 is a project based course where students will refine and expand on the skills acquired in Video Production I & II. Students will receive advanced instruction in non-linear digital editing, electronic newsgathering, electronic field productions, and programming formats. They will be able to apply their knowledge and problem solving skills by producing projects in class and recording/archiving our many events afterschool with a portable 4K studio. Along with real world experience, students will gain a deeper understanding of how this medium can both reflect and affect cultural values, awareness, and visual literacy. This will allow students appreciate the artistic involvement with the process of producing videos, understanding and utilizing the technical knowledge, skills, tools, and concepts. Organizational skills, writing skills, professionalism, and the ability to work cooperatively are necessary for success in this class. Focus areas include live multi camera productions ENG (Electronic New Gathering), Single camera productions EFP (Electronic Field Productions), Recording/archiving school events, Long term storage, Knowledge in wire(s), Proper setup, breakdown of equipment, and equipment storage, Advanced editing with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Professional cameras, drones, microphones, lights, and the Management of WAMSTV YouTube page.
