This course examines the financial planning, management, and investment needs of individuals and households. Students will become experts in financial literacy on personal budgeting, paying for college, credit cards, credit scores, banking, loans, homeownership, insurance, and investing. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to prepare a personal financial plan, budget, and control income and expenses, economically and wisely purchase major expense items such as a house and a car, purchase needed insurance thoughtfully and purposefully, and begin a program for retirement and investments so that personal financial goals can be reached. Please note: This course meets the Financial Literacy graduation requirement.

Students will explore various vehicles for investing, including stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Students will learn the fundamentals of these investment options and will explore the associated risks and rewards of investing. This course will explore the stock market, publicly traded companies, and their stock performance. Students will participate in a stock market investing simulation where they will select and track their stock portfolio.
