The Family Training Series is a learning series for families and educators supporting individuals with disabilities. It is offered by the Clark County Developmental Disabilities program, the Clark County Parent Coalition, PAVE, and the Vancouver, Camas and Evergreen School Districts. This website serves as a year-round resource hub, complementing the live training series by providing families with continuous access to valuable information, tools, and recordings. This learning series provides information and resources to families preparing for their students to transition from school to adult life. Each session focuses on a unique area of the transition. Examples of sessions include:
How to navigate the adult service system
How to build a whole life following the exit from school
Understanding your social security benefits and work incentives
Guardianship and trusts
Guiding your employment services
The information in the sessions are targeted for families and educators, although other community members who are interested in transition are welcome. In addition to the presentation, attendees have the opportunity to network with the presenters and other community members who have attended each session. The 2023-24 series is delivered in a combination of virtual sessions and select in-person workshops. See individual session details and registration below.
If you have any questions regarding the training series, please email Beth Mckenney, beth@gowise.org.
