School Counselors prepare students for academics and learning in personal, social, and character development, and future life and career pathways.
Individual counseling services are provided to students who may need additional support during times of transition, stress, change, or other situations impeding student success. Individual counseling services may be scheduled with parent permission.
*School counselors do not provide therapy or long-term counseling in schools. However, school counselors are prepared to recognize and respond to student mental health needs and assist students and families seeking resources.
Small group counseling can help children learn valuable skills to help them be successful at school. Groups can include:
*friendship skills
*social skills
*coping skills
*self-esteem
*emotion regulation
*grief/loss support
School-wide collaborative classroom presentations provide all students with developmentally appropriate lessons and activities to help them learn and grow as a student while at school. This year the lessons will focus on:
*the brain & growth mindset
*recognizing and regulating emotions
*gratitude and service
*goals
*self-esteem & kindness
*college & career readiness
*study tips & talents
Connect families to community resources that provide for physical needs: clothing, food, shoes, school supplies, discounted medical care and mental health services and more..
