She firmly believes that the performing arts provide students with the opportunity to embrace responsibility, build confidence, and foster a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.
She graduated with her Bachelor's in Theatre at Utah Tech University and currently teaches Creative Coding. She loved her time on Hurricane High and Utah Tech's Ballroom team and Raging Red. She also has owned a Character Entertainment company for the last decade.
McKenna extends her heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Howell, parents, and the entire faculty and staff for their unwavering support as they embark on the exciting journey of crafting Hurricane Intermediate's first-ever Glee Club.
Another special thanks to her parents who have taught her to never give up and have shown her what magic we can bring to others. As well as her incredible Husband and Son for putting up with her constant singing, tap dancing in the kitchen, and late nights in preparation for this fun filled production.
Hi I’m Callie Lowery! And I’m so incredibly excited to have the opportunity to choreograph this year’s musical Matilda Jr.! Singing and dancing have always been so important to me and such a big part of my life. Performing arts is a great outlet to express one’s self. And I can’t wait to teach the dances for the upcoming show!
Now let me share a little about me. I’ve had a passion for dance for as long as I can remember. I started dancing at age 5 and by age 12 I was competing at completions all over the state of Utah. There is nothing more thrilling than learning a routine and giving it your all! I was always pushing myself to do better and learn even more in all the different dance styles. In high school I was on my High Schools Dance Company…Go Springville Red Devils! I have also danced in the Stadium of Fire twice. I lived and breathed dancing. Being part of team makes for some unforgettable memories and moments. I’m very thankful for all my dance teachers I’ve had along the way who pushed me to be my best and all my teammates who made it fun!
After High School I was married in 2004 and have 3 incredible children. While busy raising my family my dancing turned in to taking Zumba classes and doing other dance workouts. And occasionally just practicing in my home for fun. Dancing truly never leaves you. When I’m not doing some form of dancing I love to bake, read, craft and go on adventures.
This last spring I felt so lucky to be asked to help choreograph some of the dances for the Glee Clubs “You Are The Magic” show. What started as a Saturday of helping out turned in to me being able to share my passion for dance. In two short months I had so much fun with the Glee Club members and enjoyed teaching them each week. The kids always made me feel so appreciated for what I was doing. Which made me never want to stop teaching. And thankfully I don’t have to stop.
I would like to thank Mrs. Yardley for giving me this beyond amazing opportunity and asking me to come back! Mrs. Howell for letting me be part of Glee Club. The parents for letting your children be a part of such an amazing after school program. And of course my family for putting up with my dancing in the front room and at random times when inspiration comes to me. I truly put my heart and soul in all I do.
Here’s to a spectacular show this Fall! And a show this coming Spring!
