He loves golf and hockey and most of all spending time with his 5 children and wife.
Mrs. Matos
Nicole Matos teaches 8th and 9th grade bands and the jazz band at Crimson Cliffs Middle School. She also teaches music at Sunset Elementary School. After getting her Music Education degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, she started teaching at Crimson in 2024. Before becoming a band director, she spent time as a paraprofessional in Special Education. Nicole plays her primary instrument, trombone, in the Red Rock Jazz Orchestra here in St. George. When she is not at work or rehearsal, she loves to spend time with her husband and dog.
Mr. Szymanski
Matt Szymanski has been teaching Band in St. George since 2006. He earned his degrees in Music Education from the University of Utah and Anderson University, SC. His primary instruments are the piano and clarinet. Matt is married with five kids who are also involved in music and other activities. Matt actively plays with groups in our community, including clarinet with the Washington City Concert Band and keyboards with classic rock bands The Lawn Darts and The Rusty Fenders. He enjoys composing and arranging his own music as well. Matt enjoys spending time outdoors and with his family and practicing instruments in his spare time. He loves teaching beginning Band because he gets to see the fast progress kids make on their instruments and the joy they get from learning new notes and songs.
