What do I do if I miss class? Read the guidelines below and then fill out THIS FORM if a makeup is needed.
Strand 3 of the Utah Core Standards for PE states, "Students will understand the components necessary to maintain a healthy level of fitness to support engagement in physical activity." We cover this strand with our fitness testing and our daily workouts. Therefore, if students are absent from class, they will have a chance to do makeup activities to account for the missed class work.
Students will receive a weekly Strand 3 grade showing proficiency levels demonstrated in the area of physical fitness. If you miss more than two days of a week, a makeup is needed to get credit for that week's physical activities.
Making up fitness for the week, requires 30 minutes per day missed beyond the two allowed. For example, if you miss 3 of the 5 days of class, one of those days must be made up and 30 minutes of physical activity are needed. If you miss 4 days, 2 must be made up with one hour of physical activity. If you only miss 2 days of the week, no makeup is needed, however an hour of physical activity is highly recommended!
Physical activity consists of anything that gets your body moving. This could be participating in extracurricular sporting events/practices, walking with your family, swimming, riding your bike, doing yoga/pilates/weights, etc. It does not have to be intense, you just need to be moving!
