Social Studies

Teaching Social Studies is new for me. I have been teaching it the past two years, but have grown to love teaching the 5th graders. This year I took the 5th graders to Biztown. This trip exposed students how to run a business, earn a paycheck and make purchases. Before they went they learned about writing checks, were their money comes from and how to balance a checkbook. It was such real life experience that the students loved. We then jumped back in time to learn about the first 13 colonies and the American Revolution. We will end the year by learning about government and how it applies to our lives and how it has changed over time.
