The MEP Teaching Fellows is a “grow your own” program funded by a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education. This program is intended to help people who are of color or who are American Indian earn their Minnesota teaching license.

The MEP Teaching Fellows program is open to applicants who are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) attending or planning to attend a Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board-approved (PELSB-approved) teacher preparation program.
Applicants must meet at least one of these criteria:
Have graduated from one of the MEP school districts (Faribault, Le Sueur-Henderson, Mankato, Owatonna, Tri-City United, Waseca)
Be a parent of a current MEP school district student
Live within the MEP school district boundaries; and/or
Be a current MEP school district employee
Teaching Fellows receive:
A $10,000 stipend per year for tuition support or other living or college expenses
If enrolled in 9 or more credits per semester, the stipend/reimbursement will total $5,000/semester.
If enrolled in fewer than 9 credits per semester, the stipend/reimbursement will total the amount for tuition and fees.
There is potential for stipends/reimbursement for summer courses, depending on available grant dollars.
