Focus on the positives. What are your goals if you get elected? How can you make Kissel Hill a better place? Put-downs or negative references to other candidates are NOT ACCEPTABLE and will result in being removed from the ballot. Other candidates should not be referenced in any way during speeches or on posters.
Candidates should share their vision and ideas, but avoid “false promises” (e.g. More recess, ice cream at lunch, days off from school, etc.) Student Council is about serving others and improving our school and the local community. How do you plan to be involved in this mission?
You may talk to students about your ideas and goals, but please do not pressure classmates to vote for you. It is their right and responsibility to vote for the person they believe will do the best job. Votes should not be cast based on popularity, friendships, or verbal agreements. Pressuring students for their vote will also result in removal from the ballot. Let your ideas and actions speak for themselves!
Candidates may not recruit other students (or siblings) to help with their campaign. All work must be original and completed by the candidate.
Creativity and individuality are encouraged!
NOTE: Teachers will be reviewing speeches and may require a candidate to adjust their speech if any of the guidelines listed above are not followed.
