Bee Keeper's Update from Dr. Balsbaugh

Dear Families,

Happy New Year! As we step into January, our school continues to embrace our theme, The Greatest Showman, and I’m reminded that every great show is built on practice, encouragement, and believing in what’s possible.

Winter gives us a unique opportunity to slow down, cozy up, and support learning at home in simple, meaningful ways. You don’t need flashcards, worksheets, or extra “school time” to make an impact—some of the greatest learning happens in everyday moments.

Here are a few easy ways you can be part of the show at home:

🎪 Read Together Under the Big Top
Curl up with a good book, take turns reading, or ask your child to tell you about a story they’ve read. Even 10–15 minutes a day helps build confidence and a love of reading.

🎪 Talk It Out
Conversation builds language, thinking, and connection. Ask open-ended questions like, “What was the best part of your day?” or “What’s something new you learned this week?”

🎪 Practice Through Play
Board games, card games, cooking, and puzzles all build math, problem-solving, and teamwork skills—no worksheets required.

🎪 Celebrate Effort, Not Perfection
Just like in The Greatest Showman, growth takes courage. Praise your child’s effort, persistence, and willingness to try, even when learning feels challenging.

🎪 Create a Calm Routine
Consistent bedtime, homework, and reading routines help students feel secure and ready to learn each day.

At school, our teachers and staff are working hard behind the scenes to make learning engaging, joyful, and meaningful for every child. When school and home work together, the result truly is the greatest show—one where every student shines.

Thank you for being such an important part of our school community and for supporting your child’s learning every day.

With gratitude,
Dr. B. 🎩✨
