Once students identify what feeling they are feeling, you can ask some follow-up questions:
Why do you feel this way?
What can you do to feel like this more often (if it is a positive feeling)?
What is a positive feeling you would like to be feeling right now? How can you get there?
Remember there are no BAD feelings! We want to always try to get back to those positive feelings though!
Have your child(ren) draw a wheel and split up into 6 sections like a pie! Have them label each pie piece with the above emotions. Have them draw/write experiences in which they have had the different types of emotions. Identifying feelings can help with emotion regulation as well as with empathy for others.
